Dedicated Perinatal Sonographer II
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations (anatomy scans, Growth, Biophysical profile, Dopplers, assist in amniocentesis).
- Preform ultrasound exams according to AIUM protocols.
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history an communicates findings to the appropriate clinician.
- Able to work unsupervised and perform exams independently.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patients while they are in sonographer's care.
- Assists with daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area and maintains adequate supplies.
- Gathers appropriate laboratory results and completes laboratory requests.
- Reviews patients' medical records to obtained record identifying information required for perinatology, instructs patient in preparing for examination and explains procedures to be performed.
- Weekend coverage at affiliated hospitals (portables).
- Obtain vitals, schedule follow-up appointments.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Prepares preliminary reports.
- Assist Perinatologist in procedures (Amniocentesis) and provide diagnostic aid by conducting supporting Sonography scans to include Ultrasound Guided Biopsy procedures.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in obstetric ultrasound.
- Graduate of AMA approved Ultrasonography Program.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Nuchal Translucency Certification Certificate
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
- Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
- Basic PC (keyboarding & navigation) skills.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in ultrasonography preferred.
- Fetal Echocardiogram Certification preferred.
- Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment preferred.
Notes:
- Travel to contracted hospitals to complete ultrasound scans in addition to office scans
