Radiology Assistant
Under general supervision, performs routine patient care on patients of all age categories and assist Radiologist and technical staff with patient handling, patient appointment scheduling, answering telephones, ordering supplies, and processing exposed x-ray film utilizing automatic film processors.
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Performs duties as required by job functions on a day to day basis.
- Greets patients; answers telephone; schedules patients for future appointments; instructs patients on the proper preparation for the exam, types patient I.D. cards, reorders supplies.
- Processes exposed xray film utilizing automatic processors, reloads cassettes with unexposed film, restocks film bin with unexposed film; keeps darkroom clean.
- Faxes information to contracted Imaging group to ensure the accession number and the images are linked in Kern Radiology Intergy System.
- DICOMs images in the DR computer system and ensures images are properly sent to the contracted imaging group for interpretation.
- Assist patients in undressing when necessary; helps patients on and off of the x-ray equipment utilizing safe lifting techniques.
- Greets patients, explains examination and describe possible reactions according to established guidelines.
- Answers telephone; coordinates transportation of patient from other department.
- Pursues and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patient and other personnel.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific department/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.
- Typing skills and familiarity with general office equipment's, including computers.
