MRI Technologist QC Lead, Gaithersburg
Provides guidance and assistance to staff performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations. May perform MRI examinations as needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares work schedules to assure that sufficient number of staff is available for patient appointments.
- Assures that staff explains MRI procedures to patients and that consent forms are obtained.
- Provides training and guidance to assure that equipment is properly and safely operated.
- Assists staff to confirm that images meet requirements of radiologists.
- Performs quality control for procedures and equipment. Documents systems failures and variances in the appropriate logbook and arranges for service when necessary.
- Makes arrangements for maintenance and repair of MRI equipment by contractor.
- Orders equipment, film, and supplies and assures that inventories are properly managed.

- Reviews and submits reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted.
- Performs duties as a MRI Technologist as required.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience as a MRI technologist required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Graduation from an accredited ARRT program or MRI certificate program required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Basic Life Support
- Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Being current in ARRT or ARMRIT CEU requirements required.
- Venipuncture competency check off within three (3) months of hire required.
- Required to stand, push, pull, and lift patients.
- In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.
- May be required to lift objects heavier then 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
- The position requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.
