Job Summary:

Leads healthcare technology strategy and planning for inpatient/outpatient healthcare delivery through championing long-term vision and plan for assessments, needs, and site planning, as well as implementing systems and through investment analyses. Develops and fosters strategic partnerships for clinical systems deployment and collaborates on incident investigations as needed. Provides healthcare technology expertise for testing clinical systems and equipment, driving cutting-edge solutions to issues, and documenting overall process. Leads innovative planning for healthcare technology research and assesses new healthcare-related technologies across the enterprise. Provides oversight for compliance/regulatory requirements through championing vision and long-term strategy for relevant processes and reviewing FDA and non-regulatory hazard alerts in a healthcare delivery setting. Develops, analyzes, and manages technology plans through a variety of program management methodologies for the enterprise.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Builds organizational capacity and prepares high potentials for growth opportunities and advancement; builds collaborative networks inside and outside the organization for self and others. Provides framework for soliciting and acting on performance feedback; drives collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement. Models and drives continuous learning and oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; stays current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices; ensures performance management guidelines and expectations to achieve business needs. Acts as a thought leader on industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices; shares best practices within and across teams to drive improvement. Motivates and empowers teams; maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning cross-functional resource plans with business objectives. Provides guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; creates opportunities for expanded scope of decision making and impact across teams.
  • Oversees the operation of multiple units and/or departments by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment allocation and completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Engages strategic, cross-functional business units to champion and drive support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and ensures resolution of escalated issues. Sets and communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; obtains and distributes resources. Anticipates and removes obstacles that impact performance; addresses performance gaps and implements contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives; serves as a subject-matter expert and trusted source to executive leadership; provides influence and consultation in the development of the larger organizational or business strategy.
  • Leads clinical systems by: developing and fostering strategic partnerships with user groups leading teams to ensure standardization of equipment configurations, facility construction plans and equipment lists for deployment of cutting edge and large-scale projects across multiple markets; and providing vision for best practices and providing high-level support for the team on highly complex and large-scale incident investigations and equipment performance analysis for challenging and ambiguous problems to determine root causes of issues, develop solutions, and driving implementation of preventative measures to ensure a safe environment.
  • Addresses compliance and needed corrections by: championing vision and long-term strategy for IT executive management to ensure systems and processes are used and maintained in a manner that ensures compliance with all relevant government regulations, accreditation, and industry standards; driving strategic long-term plans of quality assurance and evaluation programs for consistent standards and excellent service with limited direction across the enterprise to support the service, quality, access, and efficiency goals while meeting all compliance and regulatory requirements; and leveraging expertise to provide sufficient level of detail for technical, financial, environmental, operational, regulatory/legal, and maintenance/support aspects to be defined, scoped, and understood by the project management teams who will execute against these plans to ensure that technology integration plans are tied to organizational goals.
  • Drives technical expertise for clinical systems by: providing overall plan and direction for highly technical testing across the enterprise on all clinical systems and associated equipment and technology; designing and driving best practices and strategies to identify, monitor, and resolve cutting edge, innovative, and large-scale issues related to health care technologies that present a risk to the enterprise or organizational goals; strategically planning the future direction of a comprehensive maintenance program for health care technologies to drive successful application and adherence across multiple markets; directing systems management programs through technical expertise and consulting for operational impacts on a wide range of highly complex technical issues to ensure that qualitative and quantitative metrics used to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the program to align with organizational goals; and championing cyber security processes and protocols that impact the industry in health care and providing a vision for the corresponding teams to ensure implementation within the enterprise and collaboration across the industry in accordance with industry and company standards for health care technology.
  • Develops and oversees strategies for clinical systems by: championing long-term vision and plan for cutting edge and large-scale health care technology assessments, needs analysis, and site planning to identify and recommend appropriate health care technologies for planning and implementation; setting strategic direction across teams for assessing, designing and/or implementing cutting-edge systems that maximize networking, integration, and interoperability capabilities of health care technologies across multiple markets; reviewing and evaluating cost-benefit analyses, results, and related recommendations to approve budgetary changes, establish budget implementation, and ensure alignment with organization strategy and goals; and collaborating and educating senior executives on long-term plans to gain buy-in and alignment with care strategies to support health care technology purchasing strategies, forecasts, and service contracts that impact long-term objectives  across multiple markets.
  • Leads innovative planning related to health care technologies by: driving the delivery of discovered or developed health care related technologies, strategies, markets and concepts to champion state-of-the art process solutions to resolve emerging issues across the enterprise; and providing long-term vision for the enterprise, to stay abreast and promote future cutting-edge technology, future roadmaps, and industry trends around products and services, and coordinating technology pilots (e.g., attending conferences or tradeshows, vendor product events).
  • Directs, analyzes, and manages technology plans by: maintaining governance and driving overall program execution across the enterprise; and innovating and evolving overall program performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, and with quality) across the enterprise plan, ensuring measurement of business benefits and outcomes, and making adjustments as needed and in alignment with organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Biomedical, Clinical, Mechanical, Electrical), engineering technology, or related field AND minimum ten (10) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field OR Minimum thirteen (13) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience in project management.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a leadership role of a large matrixed organization.
