Surgery Scheduling Clerk
Under direct supervision, schedules patients for pre-operative tests & appointments; distributes prescribed pre-operative exam forms to appropriate departments; provides telephone coverage & reception for designated areas; distributes surgery schedule per established distribution list; types & mails letters to pre-operative patients regarding surgical procedures/policies.

- Upholds KPs Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Schedules & reschedules patients for all pre-operative appointments which are predetermined by the date & nature of surgery
- Contacts patients to coordinate all prescribed appointments & preoperative diagnostic tests within appropriate timeframe
- Types & mails instructional letters to pre-operative patients regarding surgical procedures & policies
- Prepares, distributes, collects & maintains all pre-operative lab, w-ray, EKG reports & other forms
- Receives & records surgery cancellations & scheduling changes
- Distributes daily surgery schedules to various personnel per established distribution list
- Provides telephone & in-person reception to designated area(s) by responding to patients & physicians questions, answering & screening telephone calls, receiving & relaying messages
- Performs other duties as required, such as typing, filing ordering supplies, accessing general patient information from computer systems, compiling statistics, duplicating copies, etc
- Informs various department personnel of cancellations & scheduling changes
- Equipment Utilized: Duplicating Equipment, Telefaxing Equipment, Multi-Line Phone Automated Appointment & Record Information Systems (i.e., CARE, CRIS), Typewriter, PC
- Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed
- Six (6) months of medical office experience to include knowledge of medical terminology and multi-line phones.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Typing at 35 wpm.
