OR Scheduling Clerk G6
This position supports Interventional Services providing clerical assistance and scheduling for Surgical Services supporting multiple service lines.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Must review perioperative/ procedures, to identify any gross inaccuracies and missing data elements.
* Checks daily schedule for completeness and accuracy.
* Verifies discrepancies and coordinates changes to manager.
* Prepares daily schedule according to established policy, makes copies, and distributes to designated departments. Secures patients' charts and prepatory exams, i.e. history and physicals, lab, x-rays, previous procedure reports, EKGs, consents, etc.
* Performs specific scheduling functions within case blocks, using KASIS, CIPS, moving cases from the case depot, rescheduling cases, editing cases, and maintaining wait lists.
* When scheduling, includes turnaround times and case lengths.
* Works closely with surgeons, OR Scheduling Administrators, department Medical Assistants, Surgeons, and other Surgery Schedulers as needed.
* Reconciles cases completed with computer scheduling systems.
* Answers telephone, communicates schedules, schedule changes, add-ons to physicians, charge nurse, coordinating nurse, and other staff/ departments as necessary.
* Knows when to seek additional information, prioritizes, and performs several functions simultaneously and on a consistent basis.
* Originates department downtime procedures when necessary.

- 5 years of Customer Service required.

Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrates satisfactory competence in computer data entry systems similar to those used with Kaiser Permanente, or proficiency in work processing applications.
- Must have a working knowledge of PC's and ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
- Basic knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, scanner).
- Ability to speak clearly, read, write and thoroughly understand English. Ability to learn and follow policy and procedures.
- Previous experience with procedure scheduling in either the Operating Room, Clinic, or Procedural area preferred. Knowledge of surgical/ procedure supplies and equipment needed to be ordered.
Skills Testing: MS Office, Typing 30 WPM, Medical Terminology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous procedural/surgery scheduling experience preferred.
