Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, with dotted line responsibility to the CFO and to the Director of Compliance, the Pharmacy Compliance Coordinator will perform the day to day functions of coordinating the 340B program participation. Duties may include basic data gathering for compliance investigations, collection of data for revenue cycle activities, or various activities supporting the Compliance Committee and ensuring compliance with the 340B program.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Planning: Participates in the identification of compliance accountabilities; participating in the development of compliance work and audit plans; participating on compliance-related committees/work groups.

  • Implementing: Participating in the identification of compliance requirements and conducting portions of related analyses; participating in the creation or revision of compliance standards, policies, and procedures; may monitor compliance adherence; prepares reports on compliance efforts and programs.

  • Validating: Reviewing compliance programs and content, including participating in risk assessments and/or audits, and participating in the investigation of instances of reported non-compliance.

  • Coordinate and prepare agendas for meetings, gather data using established tools or guidelines, extract and collate data for review by the Director of Pharmacy or the Director of Compliance and/or for the development of the Compliance Risk Assessment, obtain necessary items or supplies.

  • Assess quality of various automated data collection and reports as implemented, including, but not limited to, outpatient and inpatient services. Identifies, in detail, any conflicting and inaccurate data collected and reported that pertains to 340B. Captures and reports audit findings to the highest quality. Partner with Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, Financial, and Pharmacy departments, to obtain key documents necessary to conduct assessments completely and effectively.

  • Ensures all purchases comply with government regulations, accepted trade practices, and medical care standards. Audits purchase orders and vendor invoices for 340B compliance.

  • Record audit findings in accordance with Quality Monitoring and Reporting units policies and procedure to ensure complete and consistent audit data capture.


  • Access KP systems to supplement any paper documents available, including, but not limited to, mainframe systems such as various KP HealthConnect Hyperspaces and accumulator software, Macrohelix, and any additional systems identified necessary. Provides subject matter expertise on 340B guidelines and regulations as required.

  • Conducts research of different regulations pertaining to any part of the 340B drug discount program as required. Support the various 340B pertinent departments by providing subject matter knowledge on 340B topics. Maintains current knowledge of 340B Program Guidelines and Requirements.

  • Coordinates with supply chain management to ensure maintenance of proper inventory levels as well as compliant purchasing practices as relevant to 340B program requirements.

  • Negotiates adjustments involving items not recognized by accumulator software and ensures accumulations are appropriate for GPO vs. 340B considering clinical services and volume of use at the hospital facility.

  • Assists in training or delegation of work to assigned staff.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience, which includes at least one (1) year experience in hospital pharmacy OR

  • Minimum two (2) years of healthcare compliance related experience.

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, conflict resolution, decision making, customer service, interpersonal relations, influence, negotiation, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, written communication, change management, organizational skills, and multi-tasking.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, generic drug names, mathematical calculations, and ability to assume responsibility for coordinating drug inventory control in medical clinics.
  • Limited knowledge of health care industry practices and standards.
  • Some knowledge of health care related compliance issues.
  • Proficient in the use of applicable computer software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet.
  • Ability to draft and revise documents including policies, standards, analyses, and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Program or project management experience.
  • Experience with 340B government program compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in pharmaceutical billing, buying, or health system IT with demonstrated knowledge of compliance and risk management practices.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a hospital or outpatient infusion or oncology Pharmacy Technician.
  • Supply chain management experience in health care or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
  • Active CPhT certification.
  • Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Some knowledge of health care compliance policies, practices and systems.
  • Limited use and/or application of basic compliance principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Bachelors degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field.
