General Clerk (Temporary)
Under direct supervision, provides clerical support to the department, types various correspondence and documents, orders supplies, answers department phones, maintains files and provides reception for designated areas.
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties including but not limited to typing various correspondences and maintaining departmental files.
- Provides telephone reception; takes and returns messages.
- Assists members in obtaining medical services.
- Completes forms associated with member services.
- Provides member, family and visitor instruction and information as directed.
- Uses computerized systems to enter and retrieve member data.
- Books and assists in the tracking of member appointments.
- Orders and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients and other personnel.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Pay Grade: 12
Basic Qualifications:
- One (1) year general clerical experience within office/medical center.
- Ability to demonstrate a professional telephone manner as well as interpersonal skills that meet established performance standards.
- Materials Management: Typing 45 wpm.
- Ability to maintain accurate filing system and records.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Ability to read and interpret computer generated reports.
- Optical Laboratory Stockroom Qualifications: Typing 40 WPM.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to read and interpret computer generated reports.
- Basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

- Basic CRT knowledge and ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic hospital inventory concepts.
- Contact experience with vendors, purchasing and accounts payable.
- Optical Laboratory Stockroom Preferred Qualifications: Ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic inventory concepts.
- Contact experience with vendors, purchasing and accounts payable.
- This is a temporary position for approximately three (3) months.
